Hi Thomas,
unfortunately you cannot rename an existing REPORT object.
But you're able to specify a name for a new object when creating it via script:
Call GraphObjNew("FreeText", "MyText1")
Call GraphObjOpen("MyText1")
'------------------- Text -----------------------------
TxtTxt ="My Text 1"
TxtFont =""
TxtSize =3
TxtColor ="black"
TxtColorRGB =33554432
TxtBold =0
TxtItal =0
TxtUndl =0
TxtStrOut =0
TxtFrame =0
TxtBackColor =""
TxtBackRGB =0
'------------------- Position -----------------------
TxtPosX =50
TxtPosY =50
TxtAng =0
TxtRelPos ="cent."
Call GraphObjClose("MyText1")
'Call GraphObjDelete("MyText1")
Perhaps a solution for you is:
1. Create the texts interactively
2. Press Ctrl+A in the configuration dialog to get script code
3. Change the object names in the script
4. Recreate the objects by running the script with added GraphObjNew commands
Hope that helps,
Christian

Im having the same issue here... this has driven me crazy for the last day or so, it wouldnt hurt to implement a dialog on creation of a "free text" to name it.. or perhaps make it changable in the properties window of the free text object. It is a bit shocking to me that this basic functionality was overlooked, or is there a good reason for it?
Its not very free is it.. as the name implies.
How do I edit the scripts in DIAdem anyhow? On the reports tab -> toolbar -> scripts (F1, F2 etc...) If i right click on one of the buttons, "edit" is greyed out!?
