Ok, I'm completely clueless at this point.  Is there any chance you could upload your application (along with your .bld file) for me to try to reproduce the problem here?

Oh, one other question...what happens if you try to build one of the Excel examples that ships with LabVIEW (examples\office\Excel Examples.llb) into an EXE?  Does that work?

FINALLY!!!!!!!

Apparently I have some Word Dynamic VIs in my app as well.

Once I linked in both Excel and Word all was good.

9 hours of my life I can't get back....

I'm glad you were able to figure it out.  Hopefully future developers who encounter the 1003 error will find this post as another possible solution to the problem.
