Running LabVIEW 6.1 & 7.1 & TestStand 3.0 Best way to do this

Hi everyone

I wish to run LabVIEW 6.1 and 7.1 on the same machine, I also want to use TestStand 3.0 with my LabVIEW 7.1 vi's.

I want all my toolkits (Database, SDTK, Internet Developers) to be available to both versions of LabVIEW.

I have a clean machine and the CD's at the ready !

What order should I install things in to get what I want ?

I was thinking LV 6.1 >>> LV 7.1 >> Toolkits >> TestStand 3.0

Any better ideas or suggestions on how I can make this as painless as possible ?

Best Regard
Chris

If you do it in this order, the toolkits will only get installed to the most recent version of LabVIEW folder. Some of the toolkits can be simply copied from one folder to another but that may not be true for all the ones you have. I'm also not sure if the latest version of your toolkits with work with older versions of LabVIEW. I know the Internet Developers toolkit is okay because that's the only one I have that you list and that hasn't been updated in a long while. You might be better off installing 6.1>>6.1 toolkits>>7.1>>7.1 toolkits>>TestStand.

Will the TestStand Installation place a palette in LabVIEW 7.1 or 6.1 if I use your suggested ordering. How do ensure that TestStand will use LV 7.1 when for example , I specify a module and elect to edit the code.

I had LabVIEW 7.1 and TestStand 3.0 on a PC recently and when I installed LV 8.0 my TS install then became broken.

It will install the TestStand llb in the currently active LabVIEW folder I believe. I think the only way to insure that TestStand will start up LabVIEW 7.1 instead of 8.0 is make sure 8.0 is closed and start 7.1 before your start TestStand.
