SCXI-1000 with PCI-6024E

Hi,

I am using a SCXI-1000 chassis with the 1520 module and 1314 terminal block to read a strain gauge.  I have been having problems from the start with erronous data...i.e. the excitation voltage seemed to vary significantly (sometimes reading zero) when setting up a quarter bridge strain gauge and strain gauge readings were variable.

At that time, i was using labview 6.1 and an old version of MAX (mayber 2.2).  I hooked up my chassis to another computer (with a PXI DAQ board) and labview 7.0, it seems to work perfectly...nice constant strain readings and a nice response when strain is applied.  So...I don't think there is any problems with the chassis or modules.

However, after upgrading to labview 7.0 and MAX 3.0 there still seems to be some problems.   I was able to initiate my chassis create a virtual channel in MAX  but am not getting any response when i test it (i.e. does not respond to any applied strain).  What are you suggestions...do you think there is something wrong with the PCI-6024E DAQ board?  Should i try reinstalling the drivers for the board?

Cheers,
Carla

Hi Carla,

This could definitely be a driver issue.  I would first recommend upgrading to the latest version of the drivers (DAQmx 8.0).

If you are still noticing any problems let us know.

Thanks Otis,
I have determined that the problem lies with the daq board.  When i replace our daq board (pci-6024) with another pci-6024 it works perfectly.  I have been in contact with Steven from NI regarding the problem.
thanks for your suggestion though,
Cheers,
Carla

Hi Carla-

I'm glad to hear Steven could help out out.  In the future when you suspect hardware problems you should consider running the DAQ Diagnostic Utility.  It can often successfully determine whether a DAQ board is faulty and when repairs are necessary.
