Ya you're probably right. If I do end up diving in and spending the time now, it wouldn't be only to solve this problem, but any that might come later as well. I have seen an example in the past where a guy coded something to work with serial;, and through the use of OOP, was able to convert over to ethernet by small object changes (which is what I though VISA was supposed to do, but another subject), which I thought intriguing.
