Serial Port and VISA in Winows 7 starter

Hi Dear;

I want to use serial port with labview in windows 7 starter.(windows 7 starter that instlled in 10.1" hp netbook.)

NI VISA can not install in this OS;

I install Labview 7.1 on this OS but use of serial port have error yet.

what is my problem?

You will need to upgrade LabVIEW to a newer version.

LabVIEW 7.1 came out long before Win7, so it does not officially support Win7.  There is a chance you can get it to work.  You may want to try to install a newer version of NI-VISA than whatever is with your LV7.1 discs.  If you're lucky maybe there is a version of VISA that is compatible with Win7, but still supports LV 7.1.

I download NI-SERIAL 3.6.0 that support windows 7 but Unfortunately setup can not continue an show this message: " This product does not support Windows Starter Edition."

Also I try to setup LabVIEW 2009 but again show above message. " This product does not support Windows Starter Edition."

Look at Installing NI Software on Windows 7 Starter Edition found when I found this thread.

Another possibility would be to avoid Win7 Starter and either upgrade to a better Win7 version, or go back and use Win XP.

I upgrade windows 7 starter to windows 7 home base and my problem be solved.
