Share a signal between 2 systems for postprocessing synch

Hi Community,

I have 2 independent systems (a PXI that reads 50 signals) and a video tracker (Stereo camera reading displacements in 3D). I want to share a signal between them so I can synch events when I postprocess the data. I can't fully synch them because they need to work fully independent (ie I will start acquiring the PXI and then when "something interesting" happens during the test I will start the video tracker) but I need at least one shared signal to make my life easier to read the time results afterwards

The PXI: 1082PXIe chassis, 8840 controller, 2 PXI4330 (strain gauges) cards, 2 PXI4331 (pressure sensors) cards and 2 PXI4498 (accelerometers+force sensor) cards.  The video tracker comes connected to a BNC 6218 which has ++AI and 2 AO.

Since I don't have outputs in my PXI my first idea was to split any sensor signal and send it to the BNC box as well, the problem here is that the BNC box is not compatible with any of the sensor type. Then I thought of sending a signal from the BNC6218 to a PXI4498 card but I just realised that they are AC coupled only which will effectively filter out anything below 0.5Hz. So I won't have the same signal in both systems.

Could anyone think of any other options? I see I have different PFI lines (and also a trigger output in the controller) but I don't think I can use them for this, right?

Thanks for your help.

Hey Cobayatron,

Sounds like you're looking for a reference trigger.

The Trig connector on your 8840 is an input and output so you may be able to route a reference from there to one of the IO ports on the BNC block.

Best,

Jelmer

HI Jelmer,

Thanks for the info. Any available documentation I could use to implement that???
