Slow serial communications using VISA Read

What a mistake !!!! I am communicating with an embedded micro-controller that I am writing the code for. I just discovered a STUPID mistake on my part in my embedded code. I can't believe this (yes I can). Thanks for all those who gave help, but it was my fault. The loop is now running at 165 queries/sec (not that I need that but...)!!!!

I see from the other answers that you've already found where your performance problem was, so I'm glad that you have a solution and it wasn't completely our fault. 🙂

However, Serial performance in NI-VISA < 3.1 was less than optimal (in general, but especially on LabVIEW RT). We have tremendously improved the performance of large Serial read operations in NI-VISA 3.1, now available at www.ni.com/downloads
