Software PID loops

>>Do you want the user to dynamically change the Process Variable?

In the simulation mode , yes!

In the real time process the PV will change in response to the output or atleast thats what is expected to happen.

Raghunathan,

It appeared that your original question related to an initial spike you saw when the set point was 5 and the process variable was 0. What this in your manual mode (which would spike to saturation without excitation) or when you tried to use it as a closed loop control system?

It might help at this point if you re-state your question just to ensure that we are on the same plane.

Thanks for your patience!

Cheers,

Dear Jonah,

The spike was in simulation mode. I am now actually trying out the PID loop in an actual process and the loop seems to do the job. The process of fine tuning is under way and will revert.
