Position Description: Design, construction, and operational oversight of automated systems and instrumentation used in whole animal. Implement and or develop novel ways to instrument animals for acute and chronic recording purposes. Such systems may require either the development of original instrumentation and or the integration of third party instruments. Identify, evaluate and apply new imaging and machine vision technologies for in vivo studies. Keep current with advances in biomedical technology as they apply to oncology, immunology, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease.
Position Requirements: M.S. or Ph.D. in a scientific or engineering discipline, preferably in Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics or EE ChemE with a strong biological or biomedical focus. 3+ years experience working in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology context. B.S. level candidates with extensive experience 7+ years will also be considered. The successful candidate should have a proven track record of technology development for in vivo experimentation, including some of the following small animal surgery optics, machine vision and image processing electronics for biosignal acquisition and processing implantable biosensors and telemetry. Programming of laboratory automation applications in Visual Basic, Labview or other environments. Strong communication and collaboration skills. An ability to interact, with credibility and confidence, with project scientists at all levels.
