Dear Adriannin -- Looks like we have a corrupt installation -- I would suggest booting into XP in safe mode, saving all your vis in work to a different folder and uninstalling LabView, restarting system and reinstalling it. If this error still occurs, I would suggest doing a system restore and then reinstalling LabView. Hope this helps -- VNIU

Hello Adriannin,
Date stamp 39490f51 translates to Jun 15 2000. I can guarantee that this version of NI software was not tested on Windows XP.
If your system is crashing at boot time, then you will first need to disable the nipalk service so that it will become usable. The method to use depends on the type of filesystem:

  • FAT: Boot using a Windows 9x boot disk and rename the file "c:\windows\system32\drivers\nipalk.sys" to "nipalk.bak". If your system boots to a different drive or has a different windows folder name, you will need to use those instead of "c:\windows".
  • NTFS: Boot into the Windows Recovery Console using your Windows XP CD -- this will require the "administrator" password for your system. Use the command "disabl
e nipalk" to disable the service.

This should make your system bootable again, but it will prevent the function of some NI hardware, and you will receive an error message at boot that not all drivers could be started. If you do not have any NI hardware installed, you are done.

If you do have NI hardware installed, I would suggest that you upgrade to the latest versions of all NI drivers by browsing to http://www.ni.com/downloads/. If you have any further issues after upgrading your drivers to the latest version, please post those to this Forum (or the forum representing the hardware being used).

Also, if you are not using NI hardware, you can go into the Add/Remove Programs and remove all NI hardware drivers (NI-DAQ, NI-488.2, and so forth).
