TCP/IP Networking Connect Linux

For years, I have run LabView on Solaris and used the
TCP/IP vi's to connect to a remote program running on
another remote computer...

OpenConnection.vi, Listen.vi, read.vi, write.vi... all have worked fine in the past.

Now, for the first time, we are running labview not on
Solaris but on a Linux box.

And we have an odd problem...
The VI immediately reaches the OpenConnection.vi and halts...
It pops up an error: general labview error

And goes no further.

Is there a problem with the connect_open.vi when
it runs on a linux and tries to connect to a remote
computer?

May I ask if you can also cc your response to:
rharris@engineering.sdsu.edu

Thank you!

I have the same problem with Fedora core1, it is working only if you are root. I have no problem with fedora core2 and redhat 8. I guess it is a problem of rights, but I have no solution.

Dr. Impelluso,

Which version of Linux are you running?...are you logged in as "root" as previously mentioned?

Linux fedora core1 kernel 2.4.20-20.9
LabVIEW 6.1
As user, when I run the client : general error on openconnection. I switch as root (using su - ) the client is working. If I go back to user (exit from root), the same error.
It is the same error with server (as localhost), then it is a problem of firewall.
Client and server are at disposal at
