Tag Engine has started running VERY slow (DSC 7.1).

Up until this morning, the Tag Engine (Labview DSC 7.1) was performing exactly as expected. Then, while the Engine was running, I inserted a USB memory stick into my PC (I was going to archive the database to the memory stick). Unfortunately something went wrong, and Windows 2000 did not correctly recognise the USB stick, and the whole system hung. After restarting Windows, the Tag Engine runs like a complete dog: nearly 100% CPU usage in Task Manager.

I have registered a VI-based server to generate the data for the Tag Engine, so I thought the problem may be with that. However, I created a new simple VI-based server (see attachment) to test the Tag Engine, and the same slowness persists. Could the Tag Engine h
ave become corrupted?

Cheers

Hmmmm..... very strange.

Windows has done something here, and I'm not 100% sure what. A reinstall might be the quickest option, instead of spending lots of time trying to work out whats happened. This should clear any damaged files.

Out of interest, could you please let me know if this does work, just in case this ever happens to myself?!

Good luck!

Oops. You'll be relieved to know this wasn't something caused by Windows, USB or LabVIEW: it was me being a fool. I made some changes to the server VI prior to inserting the USB memory-stick, including accidentally removing a Wait Until Next ms Multiple VI. Thus the CPU was being hogged by one while-loop within my code. It is the same in the small test VI I used.

It took me a while to realise my stupidity, and I did come close to reinstalling. Everything works fine now.
