Tektronix TDS 420 screen capture

I have correct communication between PC using tktds4xx example files in LabVIEW via HPIB 488 interface to a Tektronix 420 oscilloscope and can capture a single trace.  What I need is to capture four simultaneous traces at one time or a screen capture.  I got old and lost some of my programming skills.  Can anyone offer example code?

Hi

That is a nice but 30+ years old scope. And the NI driver is that old too, though it has been updated to load into newer LabVIEW versions.

I would use my phone and do a screen-shot.

Googling a little gave this :

For interfacing with a Tektronix TDS420, use older Tektronix software like

WaveStar or OpenChoice Desktop (TDSPCS1) for basic remote control, data logging, and screen captures, often via GPIB/RS-232/Ethernet; alternatively, leverage programming environments like National Instruments LabVIEW (with NI-488.2 driver) or custom scripting with Python/MATLAB for deeper automation, as these scopes use SCPI commands for control.

Official Tektronix Software (Legacy)

  • WaveStar for Oscilloscopes: Free (unsupported) software for remote control, capture, analysis, and documentation via GPIB, RS-232, or Ethernet.

You can download the WaveStar software, if you dare ( I didn't ) :

Hi again

It struck me that much can be found on the tekwiki :

So no need to program anything. Amazing.

Nothing wrong with those drivers, a little incomplete sure, but old does not mean useless.

You are going to have to dig into the programming manual for that scope and look at the hard copy commands to save a screenshot.
