Temperature and Humidity Chamber?

My boss assigned me a project and I will be taking the LabView Basic I course in a couple of months. We use humidity and temperature chambers at work. Each chamber is connected to a device called Fluke Hydra Logger (Data logger) that scans the current temperature, humidity and appends the readings to an Excel file every 30 seconds. Now every week we stop the data logger and manually save the excel file and dump it to our shared folder where everyone can access it. We will repeat the same process and change the excel filename to the current date (ex. 02_15_2005.xls).

This how the process goes:

Chamber --> thermocouple, humidity sensor --> Fluke Hydra Logger (Data Logger) --> Computer --> Excel file

Now my question is, can we use LabView to do the same process but instead of manually saving and renaming the excel files, we will have LabView to do it automatically?

Sorry for the newbie question guys. Thanks for all help in advance!

Do you have LabView Drivers for the Data Logger? How does your computer currently communicate with the Data Logger?

We don't have LabView driver for the data logger. The data logger came with a software, that is what we use.

If you do a search on "Fluke Hydra" you will find a number of other posts relating to communications with the Logger through LV which can help you get started.
As for the rest, you can certainly do what you are proposing in LV.
Best of luck.
