The block diagram freezes the computer

When modifying the block diagram, in particular when new VI's are being added to the diagram, the screen freezes and the computer needs to be restarted.

Dear MMRP,

there could be lot of issues like your computer is running with less memory or some labview problem.

Pl. be more specific about your problem to help us to give proper feedback.

If you have a VISA Resource control on the front panel or a VISA Resource constant in the block diagram the loading of the VI will take a lot of time. The time depends on the number of resources and the speed of the machine. During this time it seems that the application is freezed. Other tracks here states that this can take up to a minute.

I hope it's something simple - I had lots of problems with freezing when I used version 6.0.0, but a simple upgrade to 6.0.2 solved them. See http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/954feaeea92d90918625674b00658b83/f983bda17b8f401b862569ec005a11c2?OpenDocument

Hello suethechemist,

i am unsing version 7.0 and there is no available update for.
But i heard from user with the version 7.1 who have the same problem, so it isn´t solved by an simple upgrade.

So i hope to find a user with the similar troubles in version 7.0 who give me some support here.

thx

Here is a link to another discussion forum.

It seems to be the same issue and this is what one person said,

"I found the problem. It had to do with stale entries in the visaconf.ini file. Just delete the file and let Measurement & Automation Explorer create a new one. This was caused by using a USB device that adds serial ports. When the USB device is disconnected, the resources stay listed and in the enabled state. I'm surprised that Measurement & Automation Explorer does not update the status of the resources automatically."

I'd take a look at this.
