Did you mean:

The datafinder cannot start due to an internal error.

Hi,

All the sudden I have started to receive an error message when I restart my PC saying:

The DataFinder cannot start due to an internal error.

(143): Unable to open configuration file! C:\Users\Test Unit\Appdata\Local\National Instruments\Shared\datafinder\config\my.datafinder< runmode:datafinder desktop edition

I dont have a clue what is the datafinder, but based on my google searches it is related to diadem, which I never had on that PC. The folder referred is empty, on another folder ("LOG") is inside.

"c:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\DataFinderDesktop\bin\DataFinder.exe" this program causes the error I guess.

the "NI PSP service locator" is set as a service and runnig.

Any ideas?

thanks!

Hello 1984,

That's peculiar that you're getting this error without having NI DIAdem installed.

It is possible that one of the configuration files for the Universal Storage Interface (USI) became corrupted. The file in question should be located at C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\Shared\USI\Config. If you rename the storetypes.usiconfig file and restart the DataFinder, the file will be recreated in an uncorrupted state. In the case where you do not have NI DataFinder installed, I would try opening patching (updating) your LabVIEW installation if possible.

I believe that the only resource I have found in regards to this error is the one you are also referring to: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/85FC48DDF584FE8C86257937005455E2?OpenDocument

Please try these steps and let me know the results. I would advise you to keep a backup of the original version of both files.

Could you also upload an NI MAX Technical (Suppot) Report? It will show me and the other users here all the NI hardware and software installed on your system in an easy to read format. Method 1 outlined at the link below should be the easiest way to do that: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/271F252B4EF0A2E0862570E70056A1E4

Thanks!
