Theory Help on DAQ Signal Accessory

Hi All,
I am researching on rough information and definition theory on some devices or related things. I learnt that DAQ Signal Accessory can be directly connected to 'E series & 50 pin MIO boards'. May i ask is E series just a category of a range of functions for example: Analog input resolution is 12 or 16 bits while M series Analog input resolution is 16 or 18 bits in comparison. These informations i found it at NI website link so i assume it is a name for a category of range of functions and usage, am i correct?

However i can't find any brief or rough definition or detail on 50 pin MIO boards, i have no idea what board is it or the use and function. Anyone who knows please explain a rough detail of it..Thanks! Smiley Wink

M Series and E Series refer to different types of data acquisition boards made by NI. The E series is older, in general less capable, and more expensive per channel. The M series devices are the current standard. They have better perfromance, more features, and are usually cheaper.

See the two links below.

You will also find links to the S Series, R Series, and M series.

MIO is multi-function input/output. Older boards from NI often had the word 'MIO' in their part number (i.e. PCI-MIO-16). Some of these boards had/have 50 pin connectors. It's not any more complicated than that.
