Both 7800 and 8800 controllers have 'gsoak' or guaranteed soak intervals allowing you to set a final temperature and then wait until the chamber actually reaches that temperature. Check your manual for gsoak...

I just started with TH8800-8200 and found this thread is intresting. I have a thermal profile and like to programatically control the therotron through LabVIEW, I downloaded the drivers and looking for the perfect functions for my requirements. I hope you guys already did the same excercise, if anyone downconvert the VIs to 2009 will be helpful.

You are communicating to an 8800? What are the 8800 serial port communications parameters?
What version of LabView are you using?
What OS? 64 or 32 bit?

You don't need a vi. Just look at the computer IO command set in the 8200 manual and use this example to get started:
