Timing using Datasockets and Visual Basic

I am using multiple datasockets to communicate with a visual basic front end and a labview RT back end.

now there won't be any front panel activated so i need to know when the VB side and the Labview side are 'talking' to each other.

I was thinking of using two more datasockets and spamming commands to them ever 50 miliseconds.

If it doesn't get a command, it isn't communicating.

anyone have any thoughts?

Have you had any luck with that? I don't know that I clearly understand what you are trying to do, but it sounds like setting up some sort of watchdog is what you're aiming for. If that strategy is not working for you, please post a reply.
