Touch screen toolkit

I have to develop a Labview application that uses a touch screen but unsure of the best way forward.

After speaking to my supplier they said that their screens (USB and RS232) come with drivers for windows and it is just a matter of loading these and then I could access the resistive touch screen as if I were using a mouse.

I notice that NI sell a Touchscreen toolkit and the questions I have is what does the toolkit do and is it possible to manage without it?

Also what is the best connection method USB or RS232, I think that I read somewhere that the only difference was that RS232 screens would need an external PSU whereas USB would use the power from the port to operate the touchscreen element.

Thanks

John

USB is definetly the way to go. i have a couple of programs that are run on touch screens and I do not use the touch screen module. I think this module is more geared toward touchscreens that are the PC and everything all in one and most of them run on windows CE or something. just keep the interface as simple as possible and you should be fine.
