Trying to buy Imaq

Hi, I am student trying to start image processing with labview. I have heard that i would need Imaq, an image grabber, ieee 1934, and a camera to start and was wondering what would be the cheapest way to start. Where can i buy it with a possible student discount. Also is there anything else i would need to accompany these things to begin image processing. Thanks

Could I buy ieee 1934 card instead of using an imaq board since it seems imaq is too expensive for my student budget? And use that to continue my image processing.

Hi Leonitas,

You will need a few things to get up and running.

1.  Camera
> This can be digital or analog and connect via a number of interfaces.  (ni.com/camera for a list of supported cameras)

2.  Interface
> If you select Firewire or !EEE 1394 then you can buy one of our capture cards or use a 3rd party firewire card.  All firewire cameras must be DCAM or IIDC compliant.  If you go this route, you will need to purchase our Vision Acquisition Software to make use of the IMAQdx driver.

3.  LabVIEW
> The Vision Acquisition Software gives you the IMAQ, IMAQdx, IMAQ I/O and IMAQ for IEEE 1394 legacy drivers.  This also adds some VIs to your LabVIEW palettes that can be used for basic image acquistion.  In order to do image processing you need our Vision Development Module.

4.  Vision Development Module
>  This includes the Vision Acquisition Software + Vision Assistant and our image processing VIs.

All of our prices can be found on the internet, but I recommend you give us a call here at NI and we can direct you to the Internal Sales Rep. for your region who be able to help you adjust pricing for students.
