Trying to view LabView 5 file with LabView 10

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I am a mechanical engineering student currently working on my senior project at RIT. A component of the project is motion control with stepper motors. I purchased a complete multiple motor controller system and plan to integrate it with a VI controlling additional devices. The vendor provided example VIs to work with for controlling the motors. However, these are LabVIEW 5 files which will not open on my school's LabView 10 licenses. Is there a way to convert these to a form that I can work with? Alternatively, would anyone who has access to an older version be able to post screenshots of the block diagram from the attached VI?

Much appreciated,

Gary Sereico

On the main page in the Announcements section are links to upconvert/downconvert VIs. You can put in a request in the Upconvert Requests Thread , for example. So, if you have others than need to be upconverted, please post your request there.

Attached are the VIs in 8.2, which you can open. Please note that the VIs being used were changed quite a while ago to no longer use direct port access. The serial port VIs being called are just wrappers around VISA. Make sure you have NI-VISA installed. If you don't have it, then you can download it from the NI site. Just click on the Support link at the top of the page.
