Part of our experience has been that seemingly fixed PC's with USB power saving turned off would become re-broken after a Windows update. Not always, but not all that rarely either.
Just adding a data point.

This plan should be deployed to all LAB Machines. Specifically <Redacted List
A Typical push for deploying this plan would be:
(From cmd prompt W/ admin)
Copy My_LAB01.pow to a local location
C:\powercfg –import <LocalPath>My_LAB01.pow c52e0d6d-ff00-4f05-aceb-391c5523a5c9 **Adds Power plan to system
C:\powercfg –changename c52e0d6d-ff00-4f05-aceb-391c5523a5c9 “My Lab1” ** Give the plan a Friendly Name of “My Lab1”
C:\powercfg –setactive c52e0d6d-ff00-4f05-aceb-391c5523a5c9 ** Sets the active plan
Look up the help on powercfg to create one for yourself

Or as a final solution, the DAQ task could be performed using some Real Time OS, running for example on PXI systems. Windows still can be used for remote monitoring via ethernet...
