USB Desktop Utility Crashes

In the process of testing if another cPCI computer in our lab can run LabVIEW RT I tested to see if the 2009 USB desktop utility I created on a flash disk using MAX works on our PXI-8108. I first loaded it onto a 16GB disk but the PXI stalls before it writes anything to screen. It even won't let me access the BIOS. With the utility loaded on a 2GB flash disk, I'm able to boot to the "Transferring control to user program       KT02010" screen but then it just hangs. In both cases I set the controller to boot "Windows/Other OS" in the BIOS. This seems strange that the utility won't work for an NI computer. If I can figure out whats wrong here maybe I can get LabVIEW RT to boot on my other computer.

Hi gtg811q,

I'm a bit confused how you are able to set the boot order of the PXI if you aren't able to access the BIOS.  If absolutely necessary you could try updating the bios.

Is this a PXI-8108 or a PXI-8108 RT?  There is a difference between the two, one being configured to run a Windows OS and the other as a Real-Time system.  They aren't typically meant to be reformatted, however I suppose if a Windows machine meets the requirements for desktop PCs and LabVIEW Real-Time targets then it is not an unreasonable endeavor; but it still boils down to the fact that NI offers two seperate products for two very different purposes.

I hope this helps!
