USB camera

Bim,

I can't recommend any of the devices since I have never tested any of them and can not verify that they work. All DirectShow compatible hardware devices should work though. I did not find any of the devices you listed to specifically state that they were DirectShow compatible. These devices did state that they were DirectShow compatible:

http://www.micronica.com.au/digvis/nogatech/usbtv/
http://www.zarbeco.com/usb_videolink.htm

Perhaps these might meet your needs, however, if not, looking at how they directly state DirectShow compatibility will help you in searching for other products that will meet your needs.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your project!

Does the IMAQ for USB driver set work in LabVIEW 8.0?  I can't find the VI's on the palette and the VI's for the image assistant are not openable in LabVIEW 8.0

The IMAQ for USB 1.0 driver does work with LabVIEW 8.0 (see attached picture) - it must be installed after LabVIEW 8.0 is installed. Also, you must install the latest NI-IMAQ driver which is compatible with LabVIEW 8.0 - currently the latest driver is: NI-IMAQ 3.5.1

Look at the following KB to see how to troubleshoot installing vision software with LabVIEW 8:

Thank you for your assistance

I have had troubles installing the USB drivers on two systems, one running LabVIEW 8, the other running LabVIEW 7.1, both with NI Vision installed.  In each case the vi's and menus were not copied to the LabVIEW directory.

By comparing the install logs on the one machine which it installed correctly on with these machines, I was able to locate the necessary files and copy them manually.  The software works correctly now.

I am wondering if there is some problem with the installer.  The machine which installs the software correctly uses Windows 2000 as the OS, the other machines use Windows XP SP2.  I installed as an administrator and the components for vision assistant install correctly, it is only the labVIEW components which do not install.

The missing files are:

imaqUSB examples.llb from the labVIEW examples folder
imaqUSB.llb from a folder called imaqUSB in the vi.lib directory
vision7.mnu from the menus\categories\visionmotion subdirectory of the LabVIEW directory

These are all from the LabVIEW 8 install, they are in similar places on previous versions.  Copy them over after running the installer.

I hope this may be of use to anyone else who experiences these problems with installing.

Hi,

i have installed LabView 2010, Vision Development Module 2010, NI-IMAQ drivers, and NI-IMAQ for USB.

I also can't see any VI's related, when opening usb cam example , LabView is looking for IMAQ USB....... .vi.

Is LV 2010 too new for this library ?
