Unable to get data from a remote citadel database with READ TRACE.vi

Hello

I can get the trace list with Get TRACE LIST.vi from the remote citadel database. But if I want to receive data from a known trace with READ TRACE.VI the vi finished after 30s with a timeout warning.(HIST_ReadNumericTraceCORE.vi, Query failed to complete within the timeout of 30 seconds.)

I have no idea how to solve this problem.

Can anybody help me?

Hi Georg2,
do you´ve already tried to view the traces with Max? Maybe this tutorial might help you to do this http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2940. Would it be possible for you to post your program?

Hello Philipp,

my MAX-version is 4.03. Trying to connect to my remote database in the way the tutorial describes has no success because after chossing the remote computer I can't browse the database path (Failure: Cannot browse for a folder on a remote machine).

However, I tried it with "Citadel 5 Universe"-item in MAX. The connection to the database is correct. But watching a trace with the trace-view function tolds me "no data". But I am absolutely shure that data at the watched trace is available, because I can see them on my application at the remote computer.

Note: If I oppenend the database folder at "Citadel 5 Universe" a yellow call sign appears at the database folder. I don't know what it means.

Do you have any idea?

Best wishes.

Georg2

Hi Georg2,

actually I am programming something that might be comparable to your problem, but I haven´t programmed so much with the DSC functions before, so it could take some time.

By the way I am searching in our database for some comparable problems or interesting forum threats...If you do not know these they might be interesting for you

Hello Philipp

please have a look at the attachment file. There you can see my programmend vi and some screenshots.

This file I have already  send to NI support.

The forum threats I have already known, but they can't help me.

Best wishes

Hello

I solved my own problem. If I deactivate XP-Firewall on my desktop-PC (remote pc operates with WIN2000) reading of remote database works fine.

After that I activate my firwall again, but remote reading is still running.

I have no explanation for this, but system is running now.

Thanks for your help

Georg2
