Unprotect and Protect Excel in LabVIEW 8.6.1

Solved!
Go to solution

I am trying to create an excel report after data acquisition in LabVIEW 8.6.1.

So that the operators cannot edit the template, I password-protected it.

Now

the I am searching online for forums on how to do so. However examples does not fit to the current version that we have since vis such as 'get report to modify' (I am not sure if its the right name) is already a feature removed

from this version.

I believe the basic issue is how to transform the 'report out' into an application 'refnum' so as the excel would be unlocked.

Hi! Muks,

Thank you so much for the reply. What type of refnum are using. Is it an application refnum? Supposing that I opened the file using report generation (so that I will just append the data), how can I transform a 'report out' into a 'refnum'?

Regards,

Peter

You can use the Workbook reference.

Hi Muks,

Another question, sorry for this one. I am very new to LabVIEW. How can I generate workbook refnum? Is there a necessary thing to do beforehand. I tried application refnum and no workbook among the choices.

Regards,

Peter

Hi Muks,

Thanks a lot for all the help.

I already figured out how. I just explored. I find this 'Get Excel ActiveX Reference.vi' and on its property node there was a unprotect option. Anyways, thanks a lot for answering.

I was waiting for the e-mail from NI and until now I didn't receive any comments.

Regards,

Peter
