Use of California Instruments 4500Ls Driver

Hi,

I'm new to LabVIEW. I've been trying to get LabVIEW to control California Instruments 4500Ls AC Power Source. The driver for this particular model is not supported by NI, but is supported by Ametek. I found the download page (http://www.calinst.com/products/Ls-Lx/Ls-Lx_Series_Downloads.htm), and downloaded almost everything there. I was able to install the following:

IVI-C and IVI-COM Drivers V1.0.3

AC Labview Driver V1.0 - Windows 64 bit for Labview 2013

But it doesn't seem to be doing anything to LabVIEW. The Functions Palette doesn't have anything related to this particular instrument under Instrument I/O > Instr Drivers like other instrument does.

Does anyone have any experience working with this particular instrument? Any help would really be appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

Did you pay attention to the paths when you ran the installer? Are you running 32 or 64-bit LabVIEW? Are you planning on using the IVI class driver? You don't need any instrument specific functions for that? What about the LabVIEW 7.1 driver on the page. I would recommend a LabVIEW driver over an IVI wrapper unless you use IVI class functions.

I have the 32-bit version of LabVIEW 2013 SP1 installed on a 64-bit laptop. I tried to install the 32-bit version of the driver (AC Labview Driver V1.0 - Windows 32 bit for Labview 2013), but I got a message saying that I can't install it on 64-bit computer. I also tried to install the LabVIEW driver (Lx/Ls and FCS Series LabView Driver (LV 7.1)), but I got an error saying SETUP.EXE could not be run.

Well, I don't need to install the IVI driver so I don't know where it was put. Use the Windows search tool or uninstall/install and pay attention to what's shown on the screen. I would contact ametek about their other installer or try on a different pc.

I have been using Ci 5001iX power sources and Ci 3091LD loads for years and never had good luck with their IVI drivers.

Forget about them and use the SCPI programing manual to write your own set.
