Use own template on CLD exam

When taking the CLD exam are we allowed to start with our own templated vi or must the software be started from scratch?

I am quite sure you have to start from scratch.  If you have your own version of a queued message handler or state machine that you are very comfortable starting from, you will need to learn to quickly re-create it.

As Bob mentioned, you cannot take any pre-existing code into the CLD exam.  More information on the CLD exam and exam topics can be found in the attached PDF document.
