Used labview software ownership

Hi, I am considering purchasing a used copy of Labview. The seller has the certificate of ownership paper, but he cannot initiated the transfer of ownership because he has no idea who the original owner is. Is there anyway to get ownership of the software via NI, provided that the hardcopy of certificate.

Incoming lengthy legal debate...

I suspect that because of the First-Sale Doctrine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-sale_doctrine) and if the software came in a physical disc form with all supplied manuals and certificate of owndership (or w/e) then it is probably legit.  Probably.
