Useful LabVIEW Presentations at NIWeek 2003

For everyone attending NIWeek this year (August 13-15), I have compiled a list of the events which seem most pertinent to us LabVIEW programmers. Many of these are given by the actual developers, so they will certainly be in-depth discussions. I put the list here with links to descriptions. If anyone knows of other useful ones, please post here.

As usual, NIWeek will feature several tracks. This year, they are: DAQ Instrumentation and Analysis, Hot Technologies, Real-Time Control and Embedded, and Software Development Techniques. Here is the list of really interesting LabVIEW presentations organized by those groups:

DAQ Instrumentation and Analysis Track
In this track, they are covering advanced techniques for waveform manipulation, powerful signal analysis with new Express VIs, simplified data acquisition with the new NI-DAQ 7 API, and reviews of all the new tools in LabVIEW. The top three that I would recommend are:
Advanced Techniques for Waveform Manipulation in LabVIEW
(http://ni.com/niweek/DAQ_analysis.htm#advancedwav)
Building Integrated Analog and Digital Test Systems
(http://ni.com/niweek/DAQ_analysis.htm#buildingdigital)
What's New with NI-DAQ and LabVIEW
(http://ni.com/niweek/DAQ_analysis.htm#whatsnew)

Hot Technologies Track
The Hot Technologies track features sessions such as a hands-on that show how to significantly save development time (always useful!) with interactive measurements and various deployment targets. Some of the more advanced sessions include topics such as synchronization in a message-based architecture for LabVIEW applications. The top three I chose here are:
Using PDAs for Test and Measurement
(http://ni.com/niweek/hot_technologies.htm#using)
Generate New Business with LabVIEW FPGA
(http://ni.com/niweek/hot_technologies.htm#generate)
How to Build Interactive VIs in LabVIEW
(http://ni.com/niweek/hot_technologies.htm#how)

Real-Time Control and Embedded Track
In the Real-Time Control and Embedded track, they are discussing how to develop distributed real-time systems with LabVIEW, how to better manage data in LabVIEW Real-Time systems, and how to develop rapid prototyping, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test systems, and device simulation using LabVIEW FPGA. Here are some useful sessions from that track:
Advanced LabVIEW Real-Time Tips and Techniques
(http://ni.com/niweek/rt_control.htm#advlv)
Rapid Prototyping, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Testing, and Device Simulation Using LabVIEW FPGA
(http://ni.com/niweek/rt_control.htm#rap)
 What's New in LabVIEW 7 Real-Time Module
(Still need corrected link)

Software Development Techniques Track
Last but not least, the Software Development Techniques track has a session for pretty much all the new aspects of LabVIEW 7 Express. Sessions range from advanced instrument control, to architecting control applications, to object-oriented programming, and certainly cover a lot of ground. Here are the top eight sessions I chose from that list:

Maximizing Code Re-use with Application Frameworks
(http://ni.com/niweek/software_development.htm#maximizingcode)
 Advanced Instrument Control with LabVIEW
(http://ni.com/niweek/software_development.htm#aic)
 Advanced LabVIEW Event-Driven Programming Topics
(http://ni.com/niweek/software_development.htm#advlvevent)
 Architectures for Designing LabVIEW Applications
(http://ni.com/niweek/software_development.htm#afd)
Four Techniques for Better LabVIEW Code
(http://ni.com/niweek/software_development.htm#fourtechniques)
Using Classes and References in LabVIEW
(http://ni.com/niweek/software_development.htm#uca)
 Introduction to LabVIEW FPGA
(http://ni.com/niweek/software_development.htm#itl)
 Architecting Control Applications with LabVIEW
(http://ni.com/niweek/software_development.htm#aca)

I hope this helps anyone out who will be attending NIWeek. Let me know if there are any other sessions you notice which would be helpful and list them here. Or just mention any thoughts about the events this year. Hope to see some of you there!
