So I am trying to build an installer for one of my .exe's that I have built. The .exe works just fine but when I start to try to build an installer I get this unusually vague and useless error. Can anyone tell me what this means?

Another thing that is popping up now is that I have missing NI System Components. What exactly is that referring to?

Your guess is as good as mine. That has been one of my complaints regarding the install builder. It often gives you the most cryptic and useless error messages that it is impossible to resolve what is wrong.

When I get weird installer errors, often times a full reboot of my machine fixes them. I would give this a shot.

Well I'm I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the message is utterly useless. I will try a reboot in a bit and see if that helps anything. Thanks for the responses though.

Sometimes clicking on the "Additional Installers" option inside the installer will fix this issue.

We once spent several hours working with NI to resolve a similar installer issue. We had to have them remote into our system and drill down through the installer code (written in LabVIEW) to discover what was happening. It was not for the faint of heart. NI really needs to do a better job reporting errors during the builds.

I recommend heading over to the Idea Exchange and throwing a Kudo on this idea.
Better error descriptions for Application Builder
The problems with errors in the application builder are pretty much the same vague errors you see on the installation builder.
