Using Max to configure a serial port

Solved!
Go to solution

I would argue that it would take you less time to convert the code to VISA than the time that you've already spent (and the additional time doing what I told you needs to be done) trying to make it work "the old way".

But, as I said, it's your call. Smiley Wink

Hello,

I got the libraries from Labview 6.1 and copied them over to the Labview7.1 dirs which replaced the existing libraries of the same name. I also copied over the file to the same dir as the Labview 7.1 exe and presto the Labview development system works. However when I try to use the Labview 7.1 runtime engine against the same code the serial ports do not communicate with the serial devices.

What is the difference between the runtime engine and the development environment?

Regards,

Kaspar

Is this on a PC which has the development system or just the LV run-time engine?

If the latter, did you install the VISA runtime engine as well?

Hello,

This system has Labview 7.1 development and runtime environments. I will contact the NI admins to see what the contents of the runtime are.

Stay tuned for further details.

Kaspar
