I am trying to use Labview as an HMI with an ABB PLC. The ABB PLC makes the data available on an ABB OPC server.
There is no problem getting the distibuted data from the OPC server (via ABB data access).
However, I need to get the alarms and events distibuted via OPC (ABB alarm and event server) with the alarm settings that is chosen in the PLC. This means that if I have set up alarm ranges etc in the PLC, I want to subscribe to the alarm and events, and this should be shown in the LABVIEW HMI without having to use the alarm handling in the DSC module. This is possible with other software like matrikon.
The reason for this is that I only want to set the alarm limits one place, and that is in the PLC.
I am not an experienced programmer in Labview or with OPC, so any thought or help on this matter would be appreciated !
