Did you mean:

VI not a resource file. Not a valid labview file

I had the computer freeze while working on the VI.  Actually, it occurred when I wanted to back up the source code.

The project opens up,. but I get the message in the attached image (below) when trying to open the VI.

How do I recover this file?  Is there a backup of all files hidden somewhere?

<talk about bad timing>

Ray,

Every time I have seen those messages, it turns out the VI was over-written by a log file or similar (open the file in a text editor and see if you recognize it).

Recovery....

Can't help there.

I opened it using a VI and looking at the binary & "\ code".  It appears that the bottom portion of the VI file is all $00  \00 (blank).  That would mean the crash occurred while the file was being written to (being saved?).

Does LV keep actively opened files hidden somewhere which I could use an unerase SW to recover?

It's the first time I ever see something like this.

There was a recent discussion on this that discussed the auto-save feature. Do you have that enabled?

Thanks smercurio,

Yes, I did (still do) have the Auto-Save feature active.   It is set to save every 15 min or every time it is run. I checked the LV Data folder.  It's not there.  😞

I found something in the KnowledgeBase which is not good news 😞  http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/A154F4BFC8FD9A07862572110073E0B2

Hopefully, there is a way to undelete any backup..  It didn't ask to recover any files when I started LV.

"It does this by saving open files at specified intervals and in the event of an irregular shutdown or system faluire, the 'Select Files to Recover' window pops up to display recoverable files the next time LabVIEW is launched. "

The auto-save files are located under your LVData\LVAutosave folder (normally in your 'My documents')
Good luck.
