Hi Sepp,

maybe you should go one step back and tell us for which device you need to "install a VISA driver"!?

(The VISA Driver Wizard most often is not the tool you really need...)

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi Sepp,

I still don't think you need any kind of Wizard here...

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi Gerd,

but do you also think that I have to see the printer as a device in NI MAX if I want to use it with LV?

Do you see a COM port when the printer is connected?

How is the printer visible in Windows DeviceManager?

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi Sepp,

you will not see any "printers" in NI-MAX.

You need to use a dedicated driver for your printer (when Zebra provides one for LabVIEW) or you use the Windows printer service...

Best regards,
GerdW

That is of course expected. NI is not in the market of printers and hence does not support communication with them directly. NI Max is for NI hardware, and to some extend for measurement instruments that use a standard communication interface such as PXI, GPIB, VXI11 (TCP/IP) and RS-232. Anything else it does not know about and really couldn't, since there are a zillion different ways of connecting hardware to a computer.

In your case the printer is an USB printer and while it seems to use the USB Printer class, this is simply one of several 100 ways to connect a printer to a computer. Many such printers don't use any standard USB class but cook their own proprietary soup.

However you might be successful by going through this thread: https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Zebra-ZD420-checking-for-quot-downloaded-quot-fonts/m-p/4228372

Mark Yedinak used to work for Zebra and was a helpful supporter for people trying to use a Zebra printer in LabVIEW. He isn't with Zebra anymore and his LabVIEW involvement is AFAIK not active anymore, so you have to go with what you can find here on the forums and hope it helps.
