Dear friends,
I have a problem using an Stanford Research lock-in, and its communication with LV 2018. Please see the pic attached.
I track down the problem to the VISA Open. the library is "Stanford Research 830.lvlib:Initialize.vi". The VISA resource name introduced in the program is correct.
I have NI-VISA 18.0. Strangely, NI MAX doesn´t detect the device, but Keysight Connection Expert software detects it.
Of course, I downloaded the drivers from NI and put them in instr.lib.
I read many posts about the SR830 and some have this VISA OPEN problem, but so far I cannot find any solution for my particular issue.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Best regards

Hi Esteban,
did you read the explanation for your error?
VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF009E) VISA or a code library required by VISA could not be located or loaded. This is usually due to a required driver not being installed on the system.
Which kind of port do you use?

Hi Esteban,
In addition to GerdW's questions/comments.
Please read through After Installing 3rd Party VISA Software NI VISA No Longer Works to see which VISA is set as primary and post back with the results.
Then, please force reinstall NI VISA. This will ensure it is set as primary, and make sure that the Visa32.dll is not missing, which can be a cause according to VISA Error -1073807202: A Code Library Required by NI-VISA Could Not Be Located.

Dear GerdW and Daniel,
thank you very much for your quick answers.
GerdW: I am using a GPIB as a connector, adapted to a USB to the PC.
Daniel: please, see the attached pics for reference. As you suggested, is not NI driver, but IVI (I don't know where this come from). However, I was trying to follow the instructions in the link you kindly posted, but I try to run the setup.exe (I tried moving in folders) but didn´t work so far. Please see the pic with my folder tree, and the different outputs that windows showed.
Then, I try to uninstall the NI-VISA Runtime, but I don't know which file select (pic 3). If not crucial, I don't want to reinstall all LV, since I have already other devices connected and working properly.
Thank you very for all your help.
Cheers,

Dear EstebanP,
Apologies about getting back to you a bit late.
It looks like indeed NI VISA is not set as primary. Have you been able to successfully reinstal VISA since you last replied?

Hi everyone,
thanks for all your help.
The problem was solved in NI MAX -> Software -> NI VISA 18.0. Once there, click in NIServer.exe and also NIvisaic.exe. In the first one, the firewall popped up, so click "Allow". Then you just need to launch both exe´s. I needed to do that when I connected another device , not only the lock-in.
Best regards
