VISA error when trying to read hex data over serial port

I am taking the liberty of attaching the ASCII formatted data that I am trying to read (it's a text file so you will be able to open it in notepad).

something very interesting is happening.  When I read the data in Labview using the code I posted each word reads F1AC.  However HyperTerminal reads each word as 71AC!

Clearly this is not good. 

Just wanted to see if this sheds any more light on the issue.

When you are reading ascii data F1AC it certainly is strange. You actually see this in your previous posted VI ?  or is this the results written to a file ?

I was indeed reading back F1AC when using the VI I posted.

I am going to speak the Guy who has developed the FPGA code and hence produced the communications protocol from which I am working.  I wonder if he has overlooked something somewhere.  I just can't understand what's going on.

I will let you know how I get on.
