VLM: License server name definition

What is the syntax of the server name for the Volume License Manager license file, (note, using NT/W2K servers?)
//server/share or \\server\share or server/share or
\\server\share\folder1\folder2\license
Please give examples. Currently I get "Specified license file was created for a different server."

You can find the server name that should be used within the NI Volume License Manager.
