Verify a CLA certificate

Solved!
Go to solution

I am in a process to hire a LabVIEW professional for my small company in India. I was surprised by the claim of one candidate who is yet to complete his undergrad course, of having successfully cleared CLA (Architect) exam in the first attempt. He also claimed to have secured CLD certification barely a year before. On asking, he has shared a copy of both CLD and CLA certificates. But, I'm in disbelief. Is there any possibility to officially/formally verify the certificate numbers with NI?

I would email certification@ni.com.  I don't know if NI will verify for you or not, but it is worth a try.

You could ask them to link their acclaim profile. That will let you see all badges they have and if you select the CLA badge you can then click "Verify" to see some additional information. Here's my profile as an example of what you would see: https://www.youracclaim.com/users/matt-jacobson .

Edit: I think when you get the email saying you passed the exam you should also get some follow-up email letting you know how to claim the badge through acclaim.

I guess I better go claim my badge then!

Thanks Matt. I will ask the person to share a link to his CLA and CLD badges and then I would click on them to verify. But if the guy doesn't share the link, is there any way to verify using the certificate numbers? (He has shared pictures of his certificates).

Hi crossrulz,

NI did verify on my email to them. And both his certificates (CLD & CLA) are VALID. The guy must be real hot LabVIEWer. It took him less than a year to go from CLD to CLA and wait... while he is still in the final year of his undergrad course in ECE!

Definitely impressive. In the US I would be surprised even if someone had their CLD as an undergrad and those are skills that you could reasonably pick up if you were pretty focused and used LabVIEW in a few classes/labs. I can't imagine preparing for the CLA above my normal classwork (or volunteering to take another 4 hour exam while in college😁).

It was a bit rough.  I was working full time and doing my master's at night (the university was about an hour away).  I did the CLA exam during an off Friday (9-80 schedules, so got every other Friday off) and then went to school to do a final exam for my robotics class, all in the same day.  Needless to say, I was brain fried by the time I got home.

I remember when you were just a CLAD - and that was not long ago at all.  But then, you were answering questions as if you were a CLA already back then, too.

(Weird, the forum wouldn't let me post because a word meaning a higher institution of learning was now allowed.)

8+ years ago I got my CLA.  I had my CLD 2 years before that.  It was just after my first CLA Summit (in 2012) that I decided to start getting involved on the forums.  So you are thinking of somebody else.

You can thank the recent spam attacks for that.
