Very useful tip to save time !

Very useful tip to save time !

Working on some big project in LV 8.5 ?
Want to get rid of the few not-saved-yet modifications you've been working on for the last minutes in a few seconds ?
Just try to duplicate an event case that contains an indicator or a control and you're done... it merely crashes LabVIEW !
And Guess what it also "works" with a case structure, great !

AppName: labview.exe     AppVer: 8.5.0.4002     ModName: labview.exe
ModVer: 8.5.0.4002     Offset: 00ddeb2c

Side notes :
- in LV 8.0.1 and 8.20 the control/indicator is duplicated with an incremented name in the new case /event case
- in LV 7.1.1 the control/indicator is not duplicated in the new case /event case

Hi Titou,

thanks for your advice - but could you please provide more detailed or descriptive topics even when you're angry about losing work of a whole day ?!? (No auto-save enabled?)
Did you send a message to NI? Did you get an answer or CAR number?

I couldn't reproduce your error by setting up a simple small vi (without a project). No problem to duplicate event cases with control in them - new controls will be created with name counted up. So maybe this happens only for (big) projects?

Hello GerdW,

You are right, I was a bit bitter when I posted this message, I apologize. Smiley Indifferent

While attempting to report this bug to NI, I realized that it was already in the know issues list, see here for link, CAR and workaround.
