Vi server compatibility with different Labview version

I have to PC => one with Labview 5.1 and the other with labview 6.0
Is it possible to launch through vi server application a vi on the PC 1.
The server applicationis written in labview 6.0 and the client application with labview 5.1

I have recently tried this and have not been able to. After talking with some other experienced LabVIEW users I was informed that it is not possible to use VI server across different LabVIEW version.

Does this still hold true? Howabout a 6.1 server and a 7.1 client?  Has this functionality made its way into the most recent labview versions?

LV 6.0 through LV 7.1 should be OK.

Before 5.1 and 8.0 and up, I can not speak to.
