Visa Server 4.2 is not starting on my LV RT PXI Controller after I updated

I am trying to update my real time PXI controller NI-PXI 1042 with Visa 4.2, but now the Visa server will not start and I cannot see any of the installed HW. I am using LV RT 7.1.1, I can roll back to visa 3.5 and everything comes up OK.

Can you list all the software that you have installed and their versions?

What other versions have you tried? 7.1.1 is compatible with VISA 4.3.

From the VISA 4.3 Readme file:

Supported Platforms

NI-VISA for Windows supports the following platforms:

  • Windows Vista x64 Edition (64-bit version)
  • Windows Vista (32-bit edition)
  • Windows XP
  • Windows 2000
  • LabVIEW Real-Time (Phar Lap ETS and VxWorks) 8.5/8.2/8.0/7.1.1
  • LabWindows/CVI Real-Time (Phar Lap ETS) 8.1/8.0.1
  • LabVIEW PDA Module (Windows Mobile/CE) 8.5/8.2/8.0
  • LabVIEW Touch Panel Module (Windows CE) 8.5/8.2

While this distribution targets all these platforms, you can run setup.exe only on Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000.

My guess is that it is incompatible with either the BroadCom drivers with one of the drivers in your system.

We tried removing the broadcom driver with no success. Pg 2 of the attached document show a configuration that works OK. The only way we could get the visa server to startup was to use an older version. We plan on trying to walk up the version of visa server to see how high a version we can get and still have it startup. I am running on a PXI controller 8187.
