I've connected 8656B signal generator(HP Make),NRT power meter(R&S) and 8593E spectrum analyzer(HP) to PC thru GPIB cable.The instruments address is not showing up in visa resource name automatically.they are showingautomatically only once I typed the visa address manuall.Also regarding 8656B signal generator the instrument IDN string is not coming saying there was a communication failure.
Are the instruments detected in MAX? It's not unusual for old instruments to not respond to the *IDN? command. This "standard" was not around back in the stone age, which is when the 8656 was manufactured.
