In your VI you can delete ALL constants (except VISA reference) wired to ConfigureSerialPort as you use the default values! The TermChar should be enabled as others already mentioned…

Watch the video and read the scale manual (as explained in the video)!

Your string handling is also very convoluted: if you would set a typical "read string" as default we could offer improvements for conversion of the string to the "mass value".
