Welcome to the New NI Discussion Forums!

I have tried the new forum for a few weeks and there are a few things that still haven't been able to figure out.

1) I have been unable to subscribe to two forums at different "rates". I want to get LabVIEW-> General as individal messages and TestStand as daily digests. I have been unable to find a way to do that.

2) I don't want to get ALL of LabVIEW -> General, just new questions. I have been unable to find a way to do that.

Is there a way to do these things that I have not found, or are they no longer possibilities?

Thanks,
Bob Young

1 - The ability to subscribe to things at different rates is not supported in the new system. This is a feature that we have requested, but apparently it would be difficult to implement with the existing architecture.

2 - The ability to receive notifications for just new threads is also something that is not supported in the new system. However, this one isn't as difficult to implement. We are working with the developers on a solution that will be available in the future.

Thanks for the feedback!

I can't figure out how to set the preferences so that
the topics that have responses that are newer are at the top.

For example, topics with posts from today would be displayed
at the top. This is a standard practice on several common message
boards, but I can't figure it out here.

Unfortunately, allowing users to sort threads in the board view by most recent activity isn't available in the community yet. It is a feature that we are working on implementing and hope to release soon. Stay tuned...

In the message listing there is also a rating column, but that's only the rating of the question (if I am right?).

You won't see any stars if a reply is rated. I miss that because now you can't see if there are good reply's on the question.

Two other things I most miss(which are mentioned already):
- you can't see if a question is answered by a "Ethusiast"
- sort by date of the last reply (like in the old forum)

But thumbs up for the new forum!!!
Keep up the good work!

Hi,

Is there a way to see just my messages and their replies?

Thanks,

I noticed that the main search engine for the ni.com site (the one at the top of every page, NOT the one only for the discussion forum, which is at the end of the page), do not work well for the discussion forums. If you notice at the top of this page there is a "Search" box and a menu with "Discussion Forums" filter already selected. If you use it, the description of each item returned is useless. For example, I did a quick search and the description of each item read something like this:

Search Discussion Forums NI Developer Zone Entire Site You are here: NI Home > NI Developer Zone > NI Discussion Forums Select Community Chinese (Simplified) English French Japanese LabVIEW Go To.. == Most Active Software Boards == -- Boards -- ...

There are a couple possible methods for seeing your messages and replies.

There is the Find All Posts by this User link from your profile page. Click on your alias in the forums to see your profile page.

If you have subscribed to (or bookmarked) all the threads you are active in, you can see them from your Dashboard window or from your Subscriptions (or Bookmarks) tab in your profile.

You can "float" all the messages that you are interested in to the top of the board so that they stand out from the rest.

Does anyone else have any suggestions or techniques?

Thanks!

This is a known issue that we are actively working to resolve. We are working to improve both the relevance of the results returned as well as the summaries that are displayed on the results page. In the meantime, using the search within the forums is the best tool for finding threads in the forums.

Thanks!
