What are Munge files?

When I compile my FPGA labview code, I am asked if I want to save some ni.Munge file.

What is it for?

 I see more of this with save comments on, but even with it off I am still asked if I want to over write these files.

Yes, I was trying to use revision to record a comment about my code.  It requests my comments for my VI's but also asked for comments to several Munge files.
