Hi,
Within a labview project window, if you right click on the target and navigate to utilities>>reboot this should also solve the problem. If the Real Time target is in use by someone else this will also create problems.

I know this thread is very old, but I am going to add something to it to help others who might stumble on this - verify that your chassis is not in Safe Mode also (go to the target and look under the tab Controller Settings). If the controller is in safe mode, it will show up in max as Connected but you will not be able to connect it in LV.

Old topic, but I'm at right now. NI's take on the matter is rather complete: https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z0000019SX0SAM&l=de-DE
The solution for me wasn't listed, though. I lost access to a target because the host got messed up. Restarting windows solved it (LabVIEW 2020).
