What is the difference between ronning continuly and running step-by-step

I am working on controlling the network analyzer by using instrument drivers. I input the sweep signal from 45MHz to 2GHz. After measured in network analyzer, the measuring values are outputed and are saved in a file. Now if I run this program continuly, the data saved are totally wrong, but no errors appear. If I run it step-by-step, the data saved are great. I am confused about it. Is there anyone knows it? Thanks

Hi,

This questions seems to be related to how the instrument actually works. If that is the case the best source of information would be the user manual for the instrument or the manufacturer's tech support.

By the way, what network analyzer are you using?. I can check the instrument driver to see if there is anything wrong.
